Contract Amount:
$1,805,000
Completion Date:
November 2010
Work Description:
The original contract required the replacement of the existing asphalt and concrete wearing slabs; concrete spall repairs to the
adjacent structural box beams, parapet walls and curbs; new scuppers, expansion joints, architectural wall coatings and the application
of a flexible epoxy-based overlay.
After the concrete wearing slab was removed, the structural engineer evaluated the condition of the existing box beams and determined that a composite slab reconstruction was needed to gain the required load to support the plant’s vehicular traffic. The design team also determined that 12 of the 56 box beams were deficient, and required supplemental internal reinforcement and concrete encasement to gain the needed increased loads.
Working around the clock, CPS completed the project by the scheduled deadline, even though our contract and scope of work more than doubled.
